The major equity indices experienced modest losses in morning trading. The Nifty dropped below the level of 17,050. While bank, financial services and realty companies fell, pharmaceutical and healthcare equities rose.
At 11:10 a.m., the Sensex is trading at a level of 57,308 points after dropping by 316 points. Likewise, the BSE Midcap which has fallen by 150 points and is trading at a level of 24,771. Similarly, the BSE SmallCap index is trading at a level of 28,570 levels, down 79 points.
The Nifty 50 index is also trading in red, tumbling by 92 points at a level of 17,031. The Bank Nifty in the same way has slipped by 455 points and is presently trading at 38,663.
On October 12, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs), were net sellers of shares worth Rs 542.36 crores. Whereas, domestic institutional investors (DIIs), also turned out to be net buyers of shares worth Rs 85.32 crore.
