Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on May 4

Indian markets opened with losses amid high volatility during opening bells on Wednesday.

Indian markets opened with losses amid high volatility during opening bells on Wednesday. Only Oil & Gas out of all the sectoral indices on the NSE edged higher. On the BSE Sensex, the sectors trading in green are Realty, Energy, Oil & Gas, and Information Technology. Stocks of Britannia Industries jumped 5.50 per cent to Rs 3452.60, as it reported a 4.3 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 379.87 crore. 

 

The S&P BSE Sensex, plunged by 261 points, to 56,714.25 in the morning trade. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index also fell by 82 points and trades at 24,221.10 levels. The S&P BSE Small-Cap, index on the flip side gained by 12 points and trades at 28,373.92 levels. Sensex's Top Gainers are Power Grid Corporation of India (2.96 per cent), NPTC (1.75 per cent), Infosys (0.67 per cent), ITC (0.40 per cent), and Induslnd Bank (0.54 per cent). 

 

The Nifty 50 index was slashed by 101 points and is trading at 16,967.90 levels. The Bank Nifty also dipped by 87 points to a level of 36,076.20. The top gainers on Nifty 50 are Britannia (3.11 per cent), Power Grid Corporation of India (2.85 per cent), ONGC (2.85 per cent), NTPC (1.59 per cent), and UPL (1.17 per cent). 

 

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,853.46 crore on May 02, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,951.10 crore.
