V-Mart gains on new store opening

V-Mart Retail has opened two new stores, one in the state of West Bengal and other in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The shares climbed up post the news.

Currently, the total number of stores has climbed to 218 in 172 cities across 17 states. The total tally of stores in West Bengal is 13 stores while that of Uttar Pradesh is 86 stores. Earlier this month, the company has opened 5 stores one in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, one in Bihar, and one each in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

V-Mart Retail is one of the pioneers in setting up stores across various small Indian towns and cities. The company primarily operates in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, with a chain of value retail departmental stores offering apparels, general merchandise etc.

On Wednesday, the shares of V-Mart Retail opened at Rs. 2,731 against Tuesday’s close of Rs. 2,700. At 15:05 hours, the shares were trading at Rs. 2,730.65, up by 1.13 per cent. It reached an intraday high of Rs. 2,736 and an intraday low of Rs. 2686 per share on the BSE. The 52-week high stood at Rs. 3,298 and 52-week low was at Rs. 1,874 per share on the BSE.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was quoting 39,045, up by a whopping 480.62 points or 1.25 per cent.
