At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green with a gain of 1,679.93 points or 2.23 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index stood at 76,529.85, signifying a gain of 1,694.80 points or 2.26 per cent over its previous closing.
On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals jumped by 1.70 per cent, power zoomed by 1.86 per cent, and auto soared by 1.96 per cent.
Meanwhile, Venus Pipes & Tubes Ltd, Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd and Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Venus Pipes & Tubes Ltd, an S&P BSE company, surged 11.25 per cent to trade at Rs 1,330.00 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
