Top 3 net revenue & PAT earners of this quarter
The result season of December quarter has almost ended. Here is a list of Nifty constituents which are top revenue & Profit after Tax (PAT) earners of this quarter.
The company which posted the largest revenue this quarter was Reliance Industries. Reliance posted a net sales of Rs 1,56,802 crore in Q3FY20 as against Rs 1,52,149 crore in the last quarter. Reliance also had the highest PAT number of Rs 11,784 crore.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) had the second-highest net revenue of Rs 1,46,952 crore in Q3FY20, as against Rs 1,34,769 crore in Q2FY20. The third-highest net revenue was of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) of Rs 85,926 crore in Q3FY20, as against Rs 75,627 crore in the last quarter.
However, the second and third position in PAT earners’ list is taken by different companies. With a PAT of Rs 8,143 crore in Q3FY20, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the second-highest PAT earner. It is followed by HDFC Bank at the third position with a PAT number of Rs 7,659 crore.
An interesting fact to analyse here is that the top three profit earners also command the same respective positions in market capitalisation. Reliance is the largest market cap company followed by TCS and HDFC bank. Perhaps, the market gives more importance to profit than to revenue number.
