Tata Group plans EV ecosystem; launch Nexon EV in India
Tata Group, one of India’s largest conglomerates, is planning to take a major step towards a clean and safe environment by making an ecosystem consisting electric cars and batteries, charging stations and battery recycling plants.
According to reports, Tata Motors, Tata Chemicals, Tata Power, Tata Croma and other companies of the Tata Group are pooling resources and expertise to build an Electric Vehicle (EV) ecosystem called ‘uniEVerse’.
The plan of EV was chalked out at the launch of Tata Motors’ electric Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV)-Nexon EV, in which the Chairman of Tata Sons, Natarajan Chandrasekaran and other senior executives of the Group marked their presence.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors on January 28, 2020 (Tuesday) also launched the electric version of its compact SUV Nexon at a starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh, which has fast charging capability, high voltage system, extended battery life and advanced safety features. Powered by Ziptron Technology, it has a range of 312 km on a single charge.
With an aim to launch four more electric vehicles in the next two years to curb pollution and bring down its fuel import bill, the Group is also encouraging other automakers to build EVs.
At 9.53 am on Wednesday, the stock of Tata Motors is trading at Rs 181.50, up by 3.07 per cent against its previous close of Rs 176.10 on BSE.
