Subex to partner with Telefonica for cybersecurity venture

Security solution and telecom analytics player Subex announced its partnership with Telefonica on a new cybersecurity venture which is focused on IoT security. This collaboration will be realised through a new cybersecurity unit recently launched by Telefonica.

As more and more devices connect to the internet, the risk associated with it grows in parallel. In order to address these threats and promote IoT implementation, Telefonica has launched this initiative with the objective of expanding the existing catalogue of IoT products and services offered to customers and also to develop new IoT security solutions in order to cater to existing and emerging threats faced by businesses deploying IoT.

Telefonica via its ElevenPaths cybersecurity unit has expanded its collaboration with Subex with whom it offers a Fraud Management as a service solution (FMaaS). The new scope of collaboration extends to the analysis of the data traffic generated by IoT devices and the detection of specific threats in this field.

As IoT devices have limited capabilities in terms of having in-built software to protect them, the offer of cyber security solutions embedded within the network and traffic is a differential factor. The company’s IoT specific platform is capable of analyzing traffic by applying machine-learning algorithms, generating an alert every time it detects a threat that jeopardizes cybersecurity of the IoT device.

On Thursday, Subex was trading at Rs. 6.09 per share, down 0.33 per cent on the BSE.
