Som Distilleries launches Lager beer in Karnataka

The company's subsidiary Woodpecker Distilleries & Breweries Private Limited has launched Blackfort Beer in Lager variant to cater to the mild beer segment in the southern state.

 

Last week, the company reported that its subsidiary Woodpecker Distilleries commenced operations of beer canning lines at its Hassan plant. The group's flagship brand, Hunter and Black fort will now be available in 330 ml and 500 ml cans.

 

The launch is expected to improve revenue realization and generate good traction for the company. Earlier, the company had proposed a final dividend of 15 per cent or Rs. 1.50 per share on 2.75,22,400 equity shares.

 

Som Distilleries is engaged in the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverage including beer and Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL). For Q1FY19, the company posted a net profit of Rs. 11.13 crores as compared to Rs. 10.12 crores for Q1FY18. The company's net sales was at Rs. 141.36 crores for Q1FY19 as against to Rs. 138.91 crores in the corresponding period a year ago.

 

On Tuesday, the stock of Som Distilleries Limited moved in sync with the market. The stock opened at Rs. 225.00 per share, and hit intraday high/low of Rs. 227.80/216.00. The stock closed at Rs. 218.45 per share, down by 3.64 per cent, when the benchmark index BSE Sensex was at 37,290.67, down by 294.84 points or 0.78 per cent.
