Panacea Biotec, the top gainer in the small-cap pack, kept small-cap bulls busy with its shares surging more than 18 per cent!

On Tuesday, the Indian headline indices opened lower, mirroring global market weakness. The advance-decline ratio remained in favour of declines with 1,294 shares rising and 2,055 shares falling on BSE.

At 2:20 pm, BSE Sensex fell 0.60 per cent, reaching a level of 57,644. Nifty 50 index declined 0.66 per cent to 17,125 level. On Sensex, Asian Paints, Axis Bank, and Power Grid Corporation of India were the Top Gainers whereas IndusInd Bank, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories & Nestle India were the major draggers.

All sectors were trading lower with BSE Realty bearing the brunt of the damage, collapsing more than 2 per cent. Significant losses were also experienced by BSE Metals, BSE Consumer Durables, and BSE Telecommunication.

Panacea Biotec, the top gainer in the Small-Cap pack, kept small-cap bulls busy with its shares surging more than 18 per cent along with a surge in volume by over 81 times. This took place following the company's announcement of receiving long-term supply awards worth Rs 1,040 crore from UNICEF and Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) for the supply of its WHO pre-qualified fully-liquid pentavalent vaccine.
