Today, amid volatility, the benchmark indices were trading lower. About 897 shares have advanced, 2,464 declined and 113 are unchanged. 

At 12:15 pm, BSE Sensex Index was trading lower, down around 720 points or 1.19 per cent at a level of 60,260.14 and NSE Nifty-50 Index also was trading lower, down around 222 points or 1.22 per cent at 17,896.85.. 

In the broader markets, the indices traded lower with the BSE Midcap index down by 1.48 per cent and the BSE Small cap index down by 0.96 per cent, respectively. 

Christian de Guzman - the senior vice president told in an interview, "This real growth forecast is still amongst the healthiest in the entire G-20. And we think potential growth can be sustained around 6 per cent" 

Crude oil prices fell on Tuesday due to concerns about a global economic slowdown and preliminary data showing a larger-than-expected build in US oil inventories. 

On January 24, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 760.51 crore and domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,144.75 crore.
