Shares below Rs 100: Only buyers were seen in these stocks on December 22!

In such a weak market, shares of Orient Green Power Company surged more than 15 per cent, making it the top BSE Smallcap gainer.

Due to easing inflation expectations and rising consumer confidence, Wall Street indices ended the session sharply higher, surging by more than 1.5 per cent overnight. In contrast, Indian headline indices finished the session lower, while Asian markets experienced optimism.

The domestic indices were severely impacted by steep declines in the utilities, power and metal sectors, but they were later uplifted by modest rises in the IT, financial services and banking sectors, which helped to trim earlier losses. Healthcare stocks kept rising as concerns over Covid-19 surfaced again.

At 3:30 pm, the BSE Sensex lost 0.39 per cent, reaching a level of 60,826. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.39 per cent to the 18,127 level. On the Sensex, UltraTech Cement Company, Infosys and Asian Paints were the Top Gainers, whereas Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv and IndusInd Bank were the Top Losers.

With the BSE Smallcap index tumbling 1.83 per cent, broader markets suffered the most. In such a weak market, shares of Orient Green Power Company surged more than 15 per cent, making it the top BSE Smallcap gainer.
