Sensex slips by 450 points; Tata Steel, Induslnd & HDFC among top losers

Sensex fell more than 450 points on the first day of the week. Sensex ended today’s trading session at 41,155.12 levels, down by 1.10 per cent while, Nifty too closed the day in red, down by 1.06 per cent at 12,119.00 levels.

The top five losers which pushed Sensex to such a low level are: Tata Steel-down by 4.31 per cent, IndusInd Bank-down by 3.37 per cent, HDFC Bank- down by 2.51 per cent, State Bank of India-down by 2.42 per cent and Powergrid-down by 2.26 per cent.

S&P BSE mid-cap slipped by 0.40 per cent and managed to close at 15,759.01 levels. However, S&P BSE small-cap was up by 0.03 per cent and ended the day at 14,850.39 levels. Small-cap stocks like Wockhardt Limited and Zuari are the top stocks which kept S&P BSE small-cap end in green by closing up by 18.01 per cent and 11.06 per cent, respectively.

S&P BSE Metal-down by 3.25 per cent, S&P BSE Telecom-1.75 per cent and S&P BSE Power-1.48 per cent were the top losers among sectoral indices.
