Sensex & Nifty end trading session in green; Tata Motors and M&M shine; ONGC weakens

On Tuesday, the domestic markets witnessed increased volatility, similar to that of Monday. Sensex ended up by 0.90 per cent at 50,296.89 whereas, Nifty closed at 14,919.10, inching up by 1.07 per cent. 

During today's trading session, the auto stocks along with IT stocks witnessed a strong rally. 

In the global markets, looking at the global indices, the US market cheered as NASDAQ was in the limelight gaining 3.01 per cent as compared to its previous trading session. Also, S&P 500 index closed up by 2.38 per cent. On the other hand, the European markets were calm but positive as FTSE 100, CAC 40, and DAX inched up by 0.33 per cent, 0.11 per cent, and 0.10 per cent, respectively. The Asian markets portrayed a mixed performance, consisting of KOSPI, which ended up by 1.03 per cent. Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite indices closed in red, declining by 1.21 per cent each. Nikkei weakened by 0.86 per cent. 

Sensex gainers included Mahindra & Mahindra that jumped 4.98 per cent, NTPC surged 3.83 per cent, Bajaj Auto gained 3.53 per cent, etc.  

Sensex losers included ONGC that plunged 3.16 per cent while HDFC ended in negative territory, down by 1.63 per cent. 

Amongst BSE sectoral indices, the Auto index and IT index dominated, surging up by 3.18 per cent and 2.85 per cent, respectively. BSE Finance index underperformed in comparison to other sectoral indices. It gained by a mere 0.18 per cent.
