Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited (ABD), the company behind the popular Officer’s Choice Whisky, has announced a significant business development, which is expected to draw attention to its stock price on Monday.
ABD is India’s third-largest spirits company in terms of annual sales volume from FY14 to FY24. The company has a strong presence across five major categories—whisky, brandy, rum, vodka, and gin. It owns several well-known brands, including Officer’s Choice Whisky, Officer’s Choice Blue Whisky, Sterling Reserve Premium Whiskies, and ICONiQ White Whisky. ABD currently operates 36 manufacturing units, out of which 9 are company-owned bottling units, 2 are distilleries, and 25 are non-owned manufacturing facilities.
Taking a step forward in its premiumization journey, ABD has launched a new subsidiary, ABD Maestro Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh. This venture aims to redefine the super-premium and luxury spirits segment in India, capitalizing on the growing demand for high-end liquor brands.
The newly formed ABD Maestro will be led by Bikram Basu as its Managing Director. Basu is a seasoned industry leader known for his role in launching and building some of India’s most successful liquor brands. With over two decades of experience at Pernod Ricard and United Spirits, and a decade-long contribution at ABD, he brings deep expertise in marketing, strategy, and brand positioning.
ABD Maestro is set to introduce an impressive line-up of premium spirits, featuring a mix of owned, licensed, and distributed brands. This business model allows the company to adapt and achieve multiple strategic goals. Some key brands under ABD Maestro’s portfolio include:
- Arthaus Blended Malt Scotch Whisky – A carefully curated blend of the finest single malts from Highlands and Speyside.
- Woodburns Indian Malt Whisky – A distinctive Indian malt whisky, offering a unique experience for consumers.
- Zoya Special Batch Gin & Pumori Small Batch Gin – These premium gins will cater to evolving consumer preferences for flavoured and artisanal spirits.
- Russian Standard Vodka – A global brand that strengthens ABD Maestro’s white spirits and cocktail strategy.
