Retail investors who procrastinate in filing their income tax returns (ITRs) till the last week of July have found another reason to delay filing their ITR. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing IT returns from July 31 to August 31 for the assessment year 2018-19. Individuals and entities whose accounts are not required to be audited need to file their IT returns by August 31, 2018 for AY 2018-19, without attracting any penalties.
