Nifty needs to decisively take out the level of 11,850 and, on the downside, support is seen around the Monday’s session low of 11,592. Going ahead, if bulls manage to defend the support level of 11,592 and the opening gap of May 20, it would be an interesting day’s ahead for the bulls. Today is the Judgement Day for the largest democracy in the world and the world will know who will be the 'king'. The markets are pricing in a clear victory for the NDA government and hence any deviation from this could lead to disappointment amongst the market participants. Volatility will be the buzzword in today’s session and the SEBI and the exchanges have stepped up their surveillance mechanisms. We might see a flat opening as indicated by SGX Nifty, however, as the day progresses, a roller-coaster ride could be seen.

On the downside, the level of 11,750 would be a crucial support for the Nifty. Markets may open flat amid negative global cues

The outlook for the day is a flat start as the global cues are not supportive. There was heavy selling across the US and European markets on account of the worsening trade situation and the escalating Middle-East crisis. At the time of writing, SGX Nifty was up by 6 points at 11,871. The quarterly numbers on tap are Bharat Financial Inclusion, Crompton and DLF.

With only three days left for the poll results, positive investor sentiments fuelled Sensex and Nifty to close Monday's trading session at record highs, up 3.75 and 3.69 per cent respectively, which is the biggest gain since 2009.

The immediate resistance is placed around the level of 11,467, which is the 50-DMA for the Nifty, followed by the 11,550 level. Trend traders will keep an eye on two levels, namely, 11,108 and 11,300, and breakout on the either side will result in a trending move. If bulls manage to surpass the resistance level of 11,300, Nifty may scale higher towards the levels of 11,370-11,400. On the downside, breach of 11,108 would result in a correction towards the level of 11,000. Stocks in news: Trigyn Technologies, InterGlobe Aviation, Bharat Forge, Manappuram Finance, Punjab National Bank.

Market opening hinges on bulls keeping the momentum going

It would be interesting to see whether or not bulls continue their last session momentum on Friday. Early cues from the SGX Nifty indicates that Nifty may open the session on a lacklustre note as SGX Nifty is trading lower by 17 points at 11,287. Nifty has an immediate hurdle at 11,300 and a breakout above this level would provide the much-needed impetus to the bulls. On the earnings front, Bajaj Auto, CESC, CUB, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Engineers India, IOC, Sobha and UPL will report their results today.

Minda Industries: Q4FY19 revenue up by 8 per cent, but profit declines

Auto component manufacturer Minda Industries reported its results for Q4FY19 and financial year ended March 31, 2019, during market hours on Thursday. The slowdown in auto sector is evident from the numbers on auto ancillary company. The sales growth is muted with just 8 per cent increase for Q4FY19 on a YoY basis.

Tata Chemicals and Tata Global Beverages surge on demerger plan

Tata Chemicals has approved demerger of its consumer products business into another Tata Group firm Tata Global Beverages, which has ended prolonged speculation. The turnover of the demerged division is around Rs. 1,847 crore, which accounts for nearly 16 per cent of the overall sales of Tata Chemicals on a consolidated basis.

Markets likely to follow Wall Street's positive cues

After a sharp sell-off in the last hour of trading on Wednesday, Indian indices hope for a recovery at the start of the session on Thursday, following positive close on the Wall Street overnight. At the time of writing, the SGX Nifty was trading higher by 25 points at 11,187 level. Market participants will eye quarterly results of Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Hindalco and Praj Industries.
