No Major Shakedowns Post the Budget
The Union Budget for 2024-2025 has been presented and analysed. Its key points of interest include changes in capital gains taxation, adjustments in gold duties and taxes, and a higher Securities Transaction Tax (STT) on derivatives. The long-term capital gains tax (LTCG) on the sale of listed shares has been increased from 10 per cent to 12.5 per cent, while the short-term capital gains tax (STCG) has risen from 15 per cent to 20 per cent. Initially, the market reacted negatively to this announcement, but surprisingly, all losses were recovered within an hour.
