Mutual Fund Update: December 2019 AUM at Rs 26.54 lakh crore
The asset under management (AUM) of the Indian mutual fund industry has dropped below Rs 27 lakh crore in the month of December 2019. It was primarily led by the drop in debt and income oriented funds. Income/Debt oriented schemes saw net outflow of Rs 78426 crore against net inflow of Rs 51427 crore in the previous month. The total AUM of debt oriented fund dropped from Rs 12.02 lakh crore in November 2019 to Rs 11.28 lakh crore in December 2019.
When it comes to the equity AUM, there was marginal increase of 1% on monthly basis. The total AUM increased from Rs 7.62 lakh crore in the month of November 2019 to Rs 7.7 lakh crore in the month of December 2019. After witnessing an outflow in the month of November 2019 Value/Contra and Sectoral/Thematic funds saw outflow in the month of December too. Large cap dedicated funds and focussed funds saw the largest inflow among equity dedicated funds.
The funds that invest in mix of equity and debt that is hybrid fund saw an outflow to the tune of Rs 1183 crore in the month of December after witnessing outflow of Rs 572 crore in the month of November 2019.
