Media stocks steal the limelight amid weak market sentiments!

India Tourism Development Corporation, Sequent Scientific and Dish TV were among the top gainers in Group A today!

After a weak start, markets dragged for today’s session with the benchmark indices -Sensex closing at 57595.68 down 89.14 points or 0.2 per cent and Nifty 50 closed at 17222.75 down 22.9 or 0.1 per cent.   

  In the broader market, media displayed a strong rally with Nifty Media surging 5.9 per cent with metal being a distant second at 1.5% gain. Both Midcap and Smallcap indices closed on a positive note while Banking, Financials and Consumer Durables were the losing sectors for the day. 

India Tourism Development CorporationSequent Scientific and Dish TV witnessed positive action in today’s session.   

  India Tourism Development Corporation( ITDC) zoomed 14.29 per cent in today’s session to emerge as the second biggest gainer in ‘A‘ Group after Zee Entertainment. The government-owned tourism company closed at 403.60 after logging an intraday high and low of Rs 423.75 and Rs 350.90. 

Sequent Scientific rallied 12.91 per cent in today’s session. It is an integrated pharmaceutical company with a global footprint, operating in the domains of Animal Health (API and formulation). The stock logged its day’s high and low at Rs 144.25 and Rs 123.15, respectively and finally closed at Rs 139.45 

Dish TV soared 9.44 per cent in today’s session on the back of strong market sentiment in favour of media stocks, emerging as the second-biggest gainer in the sector after Zee Entertainment. Today, the stock logged an intraday high and low of Rs 16.77 and Rs 15.21, respectively and closed at Rs 16.69.
