L&T construction arm bags order for various businesses

Larsen & Toubro Limited’s construction arm has bagged orders from prestigious clients for its varied businesses. The estimated cost of these orders is worth Rs 1,000-2,500 crore.

Its metallurgy and material handling segment has secured an order from BHEL to manufacture and supply heavy material handling equipment with high-end automation for its (5X800 MW) Thermal Power Plant at Yadadri (Telangana). Also, it has won another EPC order from M/s Birla Copper, a unit of Hindalco Ltd to revamp its Copper Smelter Complex at Dahej (Gujarat).

The business has also secured an order to supply high-end manufactured equipment including add-on jobs from its existing domestic and international contracts.

Smart World & Communication segment has bagged yet another smart city project for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning with five-year comprehensive operation and maintenance of an Integrated Command and Control Centre in Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh).  The scope of work involves deployment of an Integrated Command & Control Centre, Intelligent Traffic Management System, city surveillance, city Wi-Fi, technology-enabled solid waste management, GIS, citizen portal and e-office applications.

Meanwhile, L&T GeoStructure segment has secured an order from State Project Management Unit, Government of West Bengal, for flood protection works and embankment strengthening of Damodar River in Purba Bardhaman and Hooghly districts (West Bengal) using sheet piles and bullah piles.

On Tuesday, the stock of L&T opened lower by 1.3 per cent at Rs 903.90 from its previous close of Rs 916.05 on BSE.
