Just Dial clarifies on security flaw
On Thursday, Just Dial clarified about the flaws in its security systems allowing accounts of users to be easily hacked. Post this news, the stock of the company was down by 3.11 per cent.
Previously, media articles had reported that there are some security flaws in Justdial’s Register API. It stated that a user’s account can be hacked for using different services offered by the company. This security flaw can give hackers access to around 156 million user accounts across Justdial’s web, mobile website, app and voice platforms. A hacker can log in to any Justdial account by putting the phone number in the username parameter and then getting access to the account.
The company clarified that this vulnerability has been assessed and fixed and there is no loss of data or any financial loss incurred by the company, its users or by its customers. It further added that it will continue to work with security researchers to strengthen its platform.
On Thursday, the stock of the company closed at Rs. 608.65, down by 3.11 per cent or Rs. 19.55 per share. The 52-week high is Rs. 824.85 and 52-week low is Rs. 420.15 on BSE.
