Infosys collaborates with Rhode Island to combat COVID-19
Multinational IT Corporation, Infosys Ltd is planning to launch a privacy-first contact tracing solution in association with Rhode Island (US). The partnership will help people and state officials to prevent the spread of Coronavirus cases as well as slow down community transmission of the disease in United States.
Currently, Rhode Island has around 12,951 confirmed Coronavirus cases, which has resulted in 532 COVID-19 related deaths. In US, the number of confirmed cases is around 1.56 million that has caused over 92,000 deaths. The numbers of infected cases prevalent in United States make it one of the most-affected nations at present.
For this purpose, the company has developed a mobile app that will help the residents of Rhode Island follow the required health and safety guidelines as well as monitor their own activities. It will also support Rhode Island Department of Health by providing accurate and timely data along with user consent.
Technology has gained significance in COVID-19 environment with various governments trying to get better data points for policy actions on a timely-basis and in accurate manner. Privacy, however, is the main concern that has created major hindrance.
The newly-launched application is called ‘CRUSH COVID RI’. It will create individualised location diaries, while protecting user privacy. The application will utilise Infosys’ location-based services platform. Meanwhile, it will also inform Rhode Islanders with resources about quarantine and isolation supports, symptom monitoring and up-to-date disease information from Rhode Island Department of Health.
The stock closed at 670.20, up by 0.19 per cent or Rs 1.25 per share. The intraday high is Rs 673.20 and intraday low is Rs 659.80. The 52-week high is Rs 847.40 and 52-week low is Rs 511.10 on BSE
