Indian Overseas Bank become the top performing bank of 2021 so far; know here the other top banking gainers!

BSE Bankex has underperformed in 2021 as the gains recorded are ~21 per cent when BSE Sensex has gained by 25.44 per cent.

The banking stocks have contributed the most in the most recent trading sessions that pushed Sensex above 60000 levels. The passing week saw BSE Sensex close above 60000 levels for the first time ever, thus catching investors’ attention. 

BSE Bankex has underperformed in 2021 as the gains recorded are ~21 per cent when BSE Sensex has gained by 25.44 per cent. BSE Metal index is still the top sectoral gainer, up by more than 70 per cent on YTD Basis. 

However, the BSE Bankex has performed mostly in line with the markets, gaining by ~7 per cent in past one month. What is interesting to note is despite the pickup in the performance of the private banks in September, it is the PSU banks that feature in the top gainer list. Indian Overseas Bank and State Bank of India are the top 2 banking gainers in 2021, so far.
