Indian benchmarks close week with gains of more than 2 per cent
The Indian equity markets ended closed higher by 2.8 per cent for the week. The benchmark indices, the Sensex and the Nifty registered positive closing for the fourth straight trading session. The broader indices represented by the BSE 200 and the BSE 500 also ended the week on a positive note. The BSE 200 and 500 closed higher by 2.3 per cent and 2.21 per cent, respectively.
On Friday, the BSE Sensex rose 0.02 per cent to end at 41,681.54 and the NSE Nifty rose 0.1 per cent to close at 12,271.80. On intra-day basis, Nestle India (4 per cent), Titan (3.70 per cent), Tata Steel (3.19 per cent), and Yes Bank (3 per cent) were among the top gainers. On the other side, Vedanta and Kotak Mahindra Bank declined by 3.41 per cent and 2.13 per cent, respectively.
On the weekly front, Yes Bank toped the gainers list with 10 per cent gains. It was followed by Tata Steel, TCS, and Bharti Airtel, with a respective gain of 7.6 per cent, 7.32 per cent, and 6.08 per cent by the end of the week.
