Hindustan Aeronautics & Rolls-Royce unite for supporting MT30 marine engine business

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed an MoU with Rolls-Royce to provide support for establishing Rolls-Royce MT30 marine engines in India.

This collaboration marks the expansion of long-standing partnership of both the companies in India. It is the first time that HAL and Rolls-Royce will be working together in the space of marine applications. HAL will help in packaging, installation, marketing and services support for Rolls-Royce MT30 marine engines in India.

MT30 is described as the world's most power-dense, best-in-class naval gas turbine currently in service with naval programmes globally in different propulsion arrangements across seven ship types. Originating from Trent aero engine family, MT30 is capable of providing next-generation capabilities to the Indian Navy's future fleet. The full power of up to 40 MW can be delivered by MT30 in ambient temperatures up to 38-degree celsius, not witnessing any power degradation throughout the life of the ship. Earlier this year, the companies had announced new partnerships in the aerospace sector and also intend to enhance their supply chain partnerships for civil and defence aerospace.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company, headquartered in Bengaluru, India. It is governed under the management of the Indian Ministry of Defence whereas Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd is a British luxury automobile maker.

On Wednesday, the share of HAL was trading at Rs 968.30, which is 1.52 per cent up on BSE.
