HFCL bags BSNL order worth Rs 611 crore

Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (HFCL) informed that the company has received an advance purchase order worth nearly Rs 611 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), New Delhi, on September 17, 2018 for survey, procurement, supply, trenching, laying, installation, testing and maintenance of optical fibre cable (OFC), accessories and GPON equipment in the state of Madhya Pradesh under BharatNet Phase – II (for MP-1 Package) network of Government of India.

Of the Rs 611 crore order, the total material cost and service cost charged to BSNL is Rs 207 crore and Rs 245 crore, respectively, aggregating to Rs 452 crore. Also, the company will provide operation and maintenance services for a period of seven years at a total cost of Rs 159 crore to BSNL under this project.

HFCL had recently bagged similar order for Rs 583 crore from BSNL under the same project for the state of Punjab in July, 2018.

BharatNet Programme forms one of the key pillars of the Digital India programme. It is a project of national importance and envisages connecting and providing broadband connectivity to about 2,50,500 Gram Panchayats in the country. Under this project, about 1038 Gram Panchayats in 13 blocks will get broadband connectivity.
