Healthcare sector in focus on allotment of Rs 69,000 crore
Under the Union Budget 2020-2021, Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, has announced Rs 69,000 crore for healthcare sector.
Looking at the proposed expansion of hospitals, the government is focussing majorly on the expansion on tier 2 and tier 3 cities as well as planning to set more hospitals under ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme. The minister has also focussed on Tuberculosis (TB) disease and hopes that the county gets rid from the same, by 2025. Also, ‘Mission Indradhanush’ has been extended to cover new diseases as well as new vaccines.
Under the popular ‘Swachh Bharat Yojna’, the government has announced an allocation of Rs 1.23 lakh in FY21. Also, under ‘Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)’, the government has allocated Rs 11,500 crore in FY21 to focus on fresh water.
Looking at S&P BSE Healthcare, it gained nearly 0.6 per cent, comprising 20 stocks in green and 10 stocks in red.
