Gujarat Alkalies to expand its existing Caustic Soda Plant
At a meeting, the Board of Directors of Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals approved the expansion of its existing Caustic Soda plant from 785 MTPD to 1310 MTPD. This plant is located at located at Dahej Complex.
Earlier, only 1200 MPTD capacity expansion was approved. The newly approved capacity expansion plan includes 110 MTPD more. For the project, the additional investment is of around Rs. 50 crores more than the previous project cost of Rs. 825 crores. Thus, including the extra expansion cost and installation of 65 MW coal based power plant at Dahej Complex, the estimated project cost has increased to approximately Rs. 875 crores. When implemented, the project will contribute with around Rs. 480 crores towards the sales of the company at prevailing market prices. The estimated figure of turnover will remain unchanged because of the decrease in market prices of Caustic Soda group.

On Friday, the stock of the company closed flat at Rs. 414, down by 0.14 per cent or Rs. 0.60 per share. The 52-wek high is Rs. 608.55 and 52-week low is Rs. 376.10 on BSE.
