Government shuts toll collection amid countrywide lockdown

In light of the recent outbreak of COVID-19, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has asked National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to suspend toll collection at all toll plaza across India with effect from March 26, 2020.

The government believes that this move will not just help to reduce inconvenience to the supply of emergency services but also save critical time.

As per the terms of concession agreement, the government is likely to provide relief as informed by IRB Infrastructure, one of the toll operators in the country.

The stocks of infrastructure companies in today’s session were trading in positive terrain along with the broader market trend.

The stocks of IRB Infra, PNC Infratech settled for the day at Rs 53.6 and 91.4, up by almost 9.4 per cent and 10 per cent from its previous close. The stock of Dilip Buildcon settled at Rs 224, up by 3.3 per cent, however, KNR which traded in positive terrain in the first half settled at Rs 190, down by 3.4 per cent.
