GAIL commissions 165 km Gorakhpur pipeline project

GAIL (India) Ltd. successfully commissioned the 165 km Gorakhpur project under the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (PMUG) national gas pipeline project.

In doing so, the company added Gorakhpur to the natural gas map. This also marks the completion of the 750 km long trunk pipeline section-1 of PMUG, which constitutes 30 per cent of the initially sanctioned project route.

The company has ample infrastructure in place at Gorakhpur to commence gas supplies to the upcoming fertiliser plant and the city gas project in the city.

The revised project scales more than 3,400 kms to serve the eastern and north-eastern states. The section between Barauni and Guwahati spanning 730 km will be utilised to bolster clean energy-led development and propel growth across industries such as fertiliser, power, refineries and steel. It will also facilitate convenient access to PNG for both households as well as commercial establishments.

The company is also scheduled to commission the 450 km Kochi-Koottanad-Mangalore pipeline. This is particularly commendable considering the adversities prevalent in the southern regions. In the previous month, section-1 of the pipeline was commissioned and it constitutes 20 per cent of the entire project route length.

On Wednesday, the shares of GAIL (India) Ltd. opened at Rs. 313.00, and hit a high and low of Rs. 313.00 and Rs. 304.50, respectively. At 3:21 pm, the stock was trading at Rs. 305.20, down 1.96 per cent.
