Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Both Sensex, as well as Nifty, opened Friday's trading session on a weak note. At 11.47 am, Sensex was trading at 58,715.39 levels, down by 0.12 per cent while Nifty inched lower by 0.09 per cent to be at 17,543.75 levels.
The top three gainers of the day included Tata Steel, UltraTech Cement, and Titan, which advanced by 1.86 per cent, 1.14 per cent & 1.03 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, M&M, ICICI Bank, and Wipro turned out to be the top three losers, which plunged 1.06 per cent, 0.75 per cent & 0.72 per cent, respectively.
