Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened the fourth trading session of the week on a flat note. At 12.05 pm, Sensex was seen trading at 61,240.03 levels, up by 0.15 per cent while Nifty advanced 0.21 per cent to be at 18,250.80 levels.
Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, and Power Grid emerged as the top three gainers today, which surged 4.95 per cent, 3.76 per cent & 2.00 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Wipro, HDFC Bank, and Maruti turned out to be the top three losers today, which slipped by 5.61 per cent, 1.67 per cent & 1.31 per cent, respectively.
