Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened in the green zone on the fourth trading session of the week; however, at 11.50 am, both were spotted in the negative territory. Sensex was seen trading at 59,488.00 levels, down by 0.87 per cent while Nifty declined by 1.00 per cent to be at 17,718.80 levels.
The top three gainers of today’s session include Power Grid, Asian Paints, and ICICI Bank, which advanced by 0.44 per cent, 0.34 per cent & 0.11 per cent, respectively.
Besides, Mahindra & Mahindra, HCL Technologies, and Maruti turned out to be the top three losers, which tanked 3.18 per cent, 2.78 per cent & 2.59 per cent, respectively.
