Short build-up indicates that more investors expect rates to fall and are taking short bets.

On Monday, domestic equity bourses, BSE Sensex and Nifty50 were trading in deep red, amid mixed global cues.

At the time of writing, the BSE Sensex was down by 536.87 points, or 0.68 per cent, at the 78,686.24 mark. Nifty50 was trading at 23,825.55 level, lagging by 179.20 points, or 0.75 per cent.

In the early morning session, more than half the stocks on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) were trading lower. Top Gainers were led by Titan (up 1.74 per cent), followed by Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys and Mahindra & Mahindra.

Top Losers were Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 1.45 per cent), followed by Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, Power Grid Corp., and NTPC.

Sector-wise, the Nifty IT and Consumer Durables indices were the top gainers, increasing by 1.05 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively. The top losing sectors - the PSU Bank index was the top drag, falling 1.5 per cent. Other laggards were Bank Nifty, FMCG, Media, Metal, Pharma, Private Bank, Healthcare, and Oil & Gas.

These stocks are seeing fresh selling interest in the F&O segment.
