Despite pandemic, BEL achieves record turnover of Rs 13,500 crore

During the financial year 2020-21, Navratna defence PSU, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a turnover of around Rs 13,500 crore as against the previous year’s turnover of Rs 12,608 crore despite COVID-19 challenges faced by the world, coupled with stiff competition.  

The order book of the company stood firm at Rs 53,000 crore as of April 1, 2021. In the year 2020-21, the company had secured significant orders totalling Rs 15,000 crore. Some of the major orders acquired during the year are ICU ventilators, software-defined radios & communication equipment, various types of radars, sonars, networking & encryption products, smart cities, etc.  

BEL achieved export sales worth US$ 50 million during FY21. Among the major products exported were coastal surveillance system, transmit-receive (T/R) modules, Bharati radio, identification of friend or foe-interrogator (IFFI), low-band receivers (LBREC), spares for radars, etc.  

The company has entered into new potential business segments mainly healthcare solutions, network & cybersecurity, space electronics, energy storage systems, software, etc., and is confident of making significant headway in these segments in the years to come.  

At the time of market closing, the company's stock was trading at Rs 126.10, up by 0.80 per cent on BSE.
