Crude steel production of JSW Steel grows by 6 per cent YoY in Q4FY21

JSW Steel achieved crude steel production of 4.19 million tonnes in Q4FY21, registering a growth of 2 per cent QoQ and 6 per cent YoY. The company’s average capacity utilisation improved from 91 per cent of Q3FY21 to 93 per cent for Q4FY21. However, the capacity utilisation during the month of March 2021 was 96 per cent. 

Similarly, the production of its ‘flat’ rolled products stood flat on QoQ basis at 2.99 million tonnes in Q4FY21 as against 2.98 million tonnes in Q3FY21. On a YoY basis, it increased 4 per cent from 2.87 million tonnes in Q4FY20. 

On the other hand, its ‘long’ rolled products grew by 13 per cent QoQ to 1.05 million tonnes from 0.93 million tonnes in Q3FY21. On a YoY basis, the production increased 11 per cent from 0.95 million tonnes in Q4FY20. 

For the full year FY21, the production of crude steel dipped by 6 per cent YoY mainly due to disruption in production caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 in Q1FY21. The production of ‘flat’ rolled products dipped by 4 per cent YoY and that of its ‘long’ rolled products dipped by 14 per cent YoY. 

JSW Steel Ltd is one of the leading integrated steel companies in India with an installed capacity of 18 MTPA with manufacturing facility at Vijayanagar (Karnataka), which is the largest single location of steel-producing facility in India with a capacity of 12 MTPA. 

On Thursday, the stock of JSW Steel surged by 13.6 per cent making 52-week high of Rs 638.90. Later, it got closed at Rs 614.30 on BSE.
