Companies with change in promoters holding during March 2020

Promoters’ holding in a company is one of the important parameters considered while making its fundamental analysis. Promoters’ stake means the number of shares that are held by the promoters out of the total number of shares in the company.

Rising trend in the promoters’ stake shows the confidence that the promoters have in their company and is thus, a positive sign. Whereas, the decreasing trend in the promoters’ stake may not really be a healthy sign.

As per SEBI guidelines, the minimum public shareholding in listed firms should be 25 per cent. In July 2019, during Budget speech, Finance Minister of India had urged SEBI to consider increasing the minimum public shareholding in listed firms to 35 per cent from 25 per cent.

Here, we have considered BSE-listed companies and jotted down top five companies in which promoters have increased their stake. The list also comprises of those companies, where promoters have decreased their stake in the quarter ended March 2020 as compared to December 2019 quarter.
