5 best & worst PSU performers in 2019 so far
Since the beginning of 2019, BSE Sensex index is up by only 4.9 per cent closing at 37,830.98 on July 25, 2019 from the level of 36,068.33 on December 31, 2018. During this period, the index touched its all-time high level of 40,312.07 as on June 4, 2019.
However, the PSU index which consists of 61 PSU companies dipped by 1.8 per cent to 7,132.67 as on July 25, 2019 from the level of 7,263.53 as on December 31, 2018. During this period, the index was able to touch higher level of around 7,893.58, recently.
Of the total 61 PSU companies included in the BSE PSU index, only 11 companies delivered positive returns to the shareholders so far in 2019. Whereas 50 stocks have corrected majorly with 21 companies correcting by more than 20 per cent in the said period.
