At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green with a gain of 359.20 points or 0.47 per cent. By 9.17 am, the index stood at 76,831.91 signifying a gain of 212.58 points or 0.28 per cent over its previous closing.

On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals jumped by 0.60 per cent, power zoomed by 0.45 and auto soared by 0.32 per cent.
Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea Ltd, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd, and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Vodafone Idea Ltd rallied 9.98 per cent to trade at Rs 10.03 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd an S&P BSE company, surged 8.44 per cent to trade at Rs 77.09 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd an S&P BSE company, climbed 7.02 per cent to trade at Rs 1,882.10 apiece. The company has announced its Consolidated and Standalone Unaudited Financial Results of the Bank for the quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2024, held on January 18, 2025.
