At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green with a gain of 120.90 points or 0.15 per cent. By 9.17 am, the index stood at 79,823.18 signifying a loss of 120.53 points or 0.15 per cent over its previous closing.

On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals jumped by 0.20 per cent, power zoomed by 0.26 and auto soared by 0.31 per cent.
Meanwhile, Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Ltd , PDS Ltd and Avenue Supermarts Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Ltd an S&P BSE company, surged 6.92 per cent to trade at Rs 1,669.95 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.

Avenue Supermarts Ltd an S&P BSE company, climbed 4.76 per cent to trade at Rs 3,790 apiece. The company reported standalone revenue from operations of Rs 15,565.23 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2024, marking significant growth from Rs 13,247.33 crore in the same period last year. Over the past three years, Q3 revenues stood at Rs 11,304.58 crore (FY 2022-23) and Rs 9,065.02 crore (FY 2021-22), reflecting consistent growth. The total number of stores as of December 31, 2024, reached 387.
