Top equity funds that outperformed BSE 500 in February 2022
In February 2022, equity markets were shaky, which impacted equity mutual funds. However, some funds outperformed S&P BSE 500. Continue reading to learn more.
In January 2022, S&P BSE Sensex fell 0.41 per cent, followed by S&P BSE Smallcap Index and S&P BSE Midcap Index, which fell close to 0.78 per cent and 1.43 per cent, respectively. Furthermore, geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine fuelled existing unfavourable sentiments.
In February 2022, S&P BSE Midcap Index and Smallcap Index plummeted by 5.11 per cent and 8.77 per cent, respectively, while the Sensex declined by over three per cent. FPIs (Foreign Portfolio Investors) liquidated heavily in February 2022. The sale occurred in response to the Federal Reserve's increased interest rates, and the amount sold was Rs 35,592 crore.
