Here are the five S&P BSE 500 stocks soaring in the morning session.
At 11 am, the S&P BSE 500 index was trading at a loss of 152.05 points or 0.61 per cent. The market is weak, but banking stocks are buzzing today with the Bank of Maharashtra hitting a fresh 52-week high of 25.60.
The top gaining S&P 500 banking stocks are UCO Bank (up 3.78 per cent), Union Bank of india (up 3.84 per cent), Central bank of India (up 4.38 per cent), Indian Overseas Bank (up 5.19 per cent) and Bank of Maharashtra (up 8.66 per cent).
The banking stocks continue to rise due to strong performance by the banks in loan growth, better profits and better bad loan recovery. Banks also saw a fall in non-performing assets (NPAs) and good credit growths by both private and public banks.
Both private and public bank profits jumped by almost 50 per cent YoY. Bank of Maharashtra topped the list of highest loan growth among the public sector banks. The majority of Public sector banks have improved their slippages.
Bank of Maharashtra stock opened at Rs 23.3 and made a high and low of Rs 25.6 and Rs 23.2 with a previous close of Rs 23.1 respectively on BSE.
Shares of UCO Bank commenced trading at Rs 15.1 and made a high and low of Rs 15.8 and 15.0, respectively with a previous close of 15.0 on BSE.
Union Bank of India stock opened at Rs 71 and made a high and low of Rs 73.6 and 70.9, respectively with a previous close of 70.2 on BSE.
Shares of Central Bank of India started trading at Rs 23.1 and made a high and low of Rs 24.3 and 22.9, respectively with a previous close of 22.85 on BSE.
Indian overseas bank stock opened at Rs 20.2 and made a high and low of Rs 21.65 and 20.2, respectively with a previous close of 20.25 on BSE.
