On Monday, Indian equity markets soared high like an eagle on the back of the surprise merger announcement of HDFC with HDFC Bank. Bulls dominated as frontline indices Nifty 50 and Sensex zoomed 2.17 per cent and 2.25 per cent respectively.
BSE Smallcap index underperformed broader markets, closing the session at 29,182.42 with gains of 1.68 per cent. Top gainers of the index include Gandhi Special Tubes, SML Isuzu, Zuari Agro Chemicals, Godrej Agrovet and PTC India Financial Services. Top losers comprise of Team Lease Services, DB Realty, Lux Industries, Kingfa Science & Technology (India) and Excel Industries.
