The Sensex was at 55,623.60, up by 154.70 points or 0.28 per cent, while Nifty was at 16,644.60, up by 38.65 points or 0.23 per cent from the last trading session.
On the BSE,2373 shares have advanced, 785 shares declined, whereas 132 shares are unchanged.
The top five gainers in the Nifty 50 pack are Wipro, Coal India, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and Power Grid Corporation of India. Meanwhile, the top five stocks pulling down the index are Asian paints, HDFC Life Insurance Company, Shree Cements, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and HUL.
BSE Smallcap index is trading at 26,922.08, up by 1.09 per cent. The top five gainers are STC India, Future Enterprises DVR, Gujarat Mineral, Career Point, and Nahar Poly Films. Each of these stocks gained more than 19 per cent. Similarly, the top five stocks pulling the index down include Orient Bell, Brightcom Group, Rossell India, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), and Vadilal Industries.
Most of the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in the green with BSE IT. BSE Metal, BSE Energy, BSE Utilities, and BSE Oil & Gas being up by more than 1 per cent.
