On Thursday, the benchmark indices closed on a higher note, with the Sensex up around 160 points or 0.26 per cent at Rs 62,520.68 and the Nifty up 48.45 points or 0.26 per cent at Rs 18,609.35. On the BSE, 1,870 shares have advanced, 1,621 have declined and 128 are unchanged.
On BSE Sensex, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank and Larsen & Toubro Ltd were the Top Gainers whereas Tata Consultancy Services, Power Grid Corporation of India and Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd were the Top Losers.
In the broader markets, the indices closed higher, with the BSE Mid-Cap index soaring 0.43 per cent and the BSE Small-Cap index soaring 0.32 per cent, respectively. Bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank were the top mid-cap stocks whereas Digispice Technologies Ltd and Trucap Finance Ltd were the top small-cap stocks.
The top-performing sector on the sectoral front was the BSE Capital Goods Index, while the top-losing sector was the BSE Healthcare Index. BSE Capital Goods Index soared 1.45 per cent up by Bharat Forge Ltd and KNR Constructions Ltd, whereas BSE Healthcare Index plunged 0.89 per cent dragged by Take Solutions Ltd and Themis Medicare Ltd.
