Rs 11,872 Crore Order Book: PSU Defence Company Secures Rs 866.87 Crore Order for Two High-Speed Trainsets from Integral Coach Factory – DIIs Increased Stake!

The company’s shares have delivered an impressive return over 145 per cent in the past 2 years.

This Small-Cap aerospace and defence company has secured a prestigious contract from Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of two high-speed trainsets, each consisting of 8 cars. Priced at Rs 27.86 crore per car, the total contract is valued at Rs 866.87 crore, which includes the design, one-time development, non-recurring charges, and costs for jigs, fixtures, tooling, and testing facilities that will support future high-speed projects in India.

This project represents a major milestone in India's high-speed rail development, marking the production of the first indigenously designed and manufactured trainsets, capable of achieving a test speed of 280 kmph. The trainsets will be produced at BEML Ltd's Bengaluru rail coach complex, with delivery expected by the end of 2026.

Designed with modern passenger comfort in mind, the fully air-conditioned Chair Car configuration will feature reclining and rotatable seats, special accommodations for passengers with limited mobility, and onboard infotainment systems.

Today, the company’s shares closed at around Rs 3719.60 and the current market capitalization stands at Rs 15,490 crore. Additionally, the shares have delivered an impressive return of over 145 per cent in the past 2 years.

As per the Quarterly Results, in the Q1 FY25, BEML Ltd recorded a revenue of Rs 634 crore compared to Rs 577 crore. It reported an operating loss of Rs 50 crore. The net loss stood at Rs 70 crore compared to Rs 75 crore. Looking at the annual performance, the company generated a revenue of Rs 4054 crore in FY24 compared to Rs 3899 crore. The operating profit for FY24 was Rs 445 crore with a net profit of Rs 282 crore compared to a profit of Rs 158 crore in FY23.

In June 2024, DIIs have increased their stakes from 17.79 per cent to 20.14 per cent.
