Indian Benchmark indices Sensex and the Nifty 50 closed in the red on Wednesday, March 12, losses led by IT heavyweights.

The Sensex closed 72 points or 0.1 per cent lower at 74,029, while the Nifty closed 27 points or 0.12 per cent higher to 22,470. The Nifty Bank gained 202 points to settle at 48,056 as the Banking stocks rose since early morning trade.

Broader indices closed lower where Nifty Mid-Cap dropped by 0.57 per cent as losses in information technology information technology stocks on worries over a slowdown in the U.S. economy offset gains in Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries. While Nifty Small-Cap ended marginally lower by 0.21 per cent.

Nifty Private Bank, Nifty Healthcare and Nifty Finance are among the Top Gainers, while currently Nifty IT, Nifty Realty and Nifty Media were among the Top Losers.

NACL Industries Ltd traded with strong momentum, reaching a high of Rs 80.9 and closing at Rs 79.98. The stock saw a volume spike with 72.71 lakh shares traded, significantly higher than usual. It recorded a price volume breakout and marked a fresh 52-week high at Rs 80.9. The percent change for the day was 12.32 per cent, with the stock currently trading at Rs 79.98. Returns from the 52-week low stand at 63.22 per cent. The stock showed a strong move, supported by a surge in volume, indicating active participation.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd saw a high of Rs 44.8 and is currently trading at Rs 43.81, up 6.93 per cent from the previous close of Rs 40.97.
