On Tuesday, Sensex and Nifty closed on a mixed note, mirroring a broad sell-off in Asian markets after Wall Street closed lower amid recession fears in the U.S. Selling pressure was visible across all sectors.

The Sensex closed 12 points or 0.02 per cent lower at 74,102, while the Nifty closed 37 points or 0.17 per cent higher to 22,497. The Nifty Bank lost 362 points to settle at 47,853 as the IndusInd Bank dragged the index down after reporting discrepancies in accounting related to forex derivatives.

Broader indices closed mixed where Nifty Mid-Cap surged by 0.67 per cent as losses in IndusInd Bank and information technology stocks offset gains in other companies, while the sentiment remained grim due to worries over the U.S. economy, while Nifty Small-Cap tumbled by 0.8 per cent.

Nifty Realty, Nifty Oil & Gas and Nifty Infra are among the Top Gainers, while currently Nifty IT, Nifty Private Banks and Nifty Bank were among the Top Losers.
