Overnight Digest: These small caps will be in focus tomorrow

Bharat Road Network, Ganesha Ecosphere, Chemfab Alkalis, PDS Multinational Fashions, Fineotex Chemical, Wonder Fibromats, Zodiac Energy, SEL Manufacturing Company and PSP Projects made a fresh 52-week high today.  

On Tuesday, Indian equity markets surged on account of progressive budget for 2022. Benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex climbed 1.37 per cent and 1.46 per cent, closing the session at 17,576.80 and 58,862.57 respectively. BSE Small-cap index also closed in the green zone at 29,496.59, up by 0.92 per cent. 

The following small-cap stocks are likely to be in focus on Wednesday, February 2, 2022:  

Goodyear India - The company’s Q3FY22 total revenue stood at Rs 612 crore, up 18 per cent from a year ago. Gross margin was negatively impacted by the higher cost of goods sold (up by 28 per cent) due to increased raw material prices across all categories. Other expenses were impacted by a steep rise in fuel prices. Q3FY22 profit after tax (PAT) was Rs 19 crore, a decrease of 60 per cent as compared to Rs 49 crore in the prior year. PAT as a percentage of sales was 3.2 per cent, down from 9.4 per cent in the same period last year.

To quote Sandeep Mahajan, Chairman and Managing Director of Goodyear India, from a filing with the exchange, “Our consumer replacement business continued to grow and gain market share, reflecting the strength of our brands.” 

Cantabil Retail India – The company has announced its unaudited financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2021. Revenue from operations was at Rs 131.72 crore in Q3 FY22 as against Rs 97.50 crore in Q3FY21 YoY increase of 35.09 per cent mainly due to higher ticket size & basket size along with increasing footfalls and newly opened stores. Profit After Tax came in at Rs. 23.71 crore. Basic EPS stood at Rs. 14.52.

To quote Vijay Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of Cantabil Retail India from a filing with the exchange, “As for this quarter we have opened a total of 21 new stores – in sync with our medium-term growth plan along with better shopping experience and higher customer satisfaction. We plan to continue focusing on expanding our network of stores and increasing per-store sales and efficiencies.”
