Overnight Digest: Stocks likely to be in focus on September 08

Keep these stocks on your radar for Thursday's trading session

On Wednesday, the benchmark indices recovered in the afternoon session but closed lower towards the end of the trading session.

At the close, Sensex slipped 168.08 points or 0.28 per cent at 59,028.91 level while Nifty lost 31.20 points or 0.18 per cent at 17624.40. Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, IndusInd Bank, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, and ICICI Bank were the Top Losers, declining between 1 per cent and 2.6 per cent.

Among the sectors, the auto index dropped a per cent while FMCG, IT and pharma space saw some positive sentiments. In the broader markets, the midcap and smallcap indices gained half a per cent each.

Coal India - The shares of Coal India gained 2.71 per cent in an otherwise subdued market as the company marks a new milestone regarding output growth in absolute terms. At a historic high, the company's production increased by 44.6 million tonnes (MTs) in just 5 months and 4 days of the ongoing fiscal, as of September 4, overtaking the previous best of 44.5 MTs registered in FY16, which was for the entire year. 

Hindustan Aeronautics - Shares of Hindustan Aeronautics hit their 52-week high price as HAL announced in the previous trading session that it is proud to be associated with India's first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier, IAC-1 Vikrant. It was commissioned recently as INS Vikrant by Prime Minister Modi at Kochi.

Ambuja Cements - The shares of Ambuja Cements hit a record high of Rs 446.50, zooming 2 per cent in an intraday trade on Wednesday in an otherwise weak market. The shares gained ahead of the closure of the open offer made by Adani Group on Friday, September 9. The stock has beaten its previous high of Rs 443 made on September 8, 2021.

Price Volume Breakout stocks - The shares of Vaibhav Global, Wockhardt, Angel One, Shree Cement and JK Lakshmi Cement witnessed a price volume breakout in Wednesday's trading session. Vaibhav Global soared up to 12.51 per cent, while Wockhardt and Angel One surged up 9.06 per cent and 8.54 per cent, respectively.
